Here is used knot called the Vertical Larks Head, along with crossed elements, (also called - Frivolite knots). The Vertical Larks Head knot is most often used to form a sennit (chain, chainlet). In some vintage Macrame patterns, it's called the Buttonhole Stitch. This is easy to make and good for beginners.
